Only the amount of inflation is reflected in the price of the accommodation, not the operating expenses
In the academic year 2022/2023, the planned 10 percent rise in accomodation fees did not occur, mainly due to energy savings. Even from September, the price list from February 2023 remained valid. Now the management of MU has decided only to apply the inflation clause according to the provisions of the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ). The increase will take place for existing accommodation contracts from the 1st of February 2024. The Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) will publish the exact amount of the inflation rate in the second half of January 2024.
"The inflation clause is part of all accommodation contracts signed by students currently staying in the dormitories. Through it, the loss of the value of money is regularly offset, i.e. it is not about raising the price of accommodation. As we cannot estimate the exact date of publication of the inflation rate, every student who is accommodated will receive a personal e-mail by the end of January with the new accommodation price list valid from February 1, 2024," explained the director of the Dormitory and Catering services (SKM), Kamil Kulíšek.
A minor change awaits students from the 2024/2025 academic year also in the newly concluded accommodation contracts. "Newly, the accommodation and reservation deposit will be collected at the time of making the reservation, not after starting the accommodation. It was already decided at the meeting of the Accommodation Commission last November, but it has not yet been implemented due to the software solution. It will bring a significant reduction in administration," explained SKM director Kamil Kulíšek.
