Four dormitories have their new council members appointed
The results are in and one-half of all dormitories operated by the Accommodation and Catering Services (ACS) have new council members appointed: all three buildings of the Vinařská dormitory, as well as Mánesova, Klácelova and náměstí Míru.
Announced by the director of ACS in late October, the elections took place at all dormitories with the exception of the Kounicova dormitory due to its overall renovation being in its second year.
The attempt to elect the dormitory board has once again failed at Sladkého and Bří. Žůrků (the two dormitories in the borough of Komárov), as well as Veveří and Tvrdého due to a lack of interest. “No candidate has submitted their application at Bří. Žůrků and Sladkého in spite of several attempts. As for Veveří and Tvrdého, ultimately some candidates came up, so we may eventually be able to appoint the three-member councils there,” says Head of Accommodation at ACS Renata Pavlicová. The extraordinary round of elections will take place on 25–29 November. The management of ACS will proceed to hold meetings with the new appointees as soon as possible.
The dormitory council membership carries numerous perks. In addition to the opportunity to actively influence the operation of the dormitory and to receive relevant information sooner than most students, the members can also submit recommendations for the improvement of comfort and amenities and they can expect to be granted a bed for the entire academic year outside of the general order of applicants.
