The first round of reservations of dormitories for the 2024/2025 academic year will start in May, opening for current students who meet the conditions of full-time study with no more than one extra year. The subsequent round will then open for students arriving for the Erasmus or Degree programmes. The reservation system will then open for future first-year students in August.
The accommodation and reservation deposit will be paid upon the reservation, not upon the day of commencement of accommodation (moving), as it was the case until now. All matters were discussed and approved at the December 2023 meeting of the Accommodation Board of Masaryk University.

All canteens of Masaryk University have switched to one unified offer as of March. Students can now choose from two meals for the special price of CZK 85 including soup, two other dishes and the favourite fried cheese. All meals are cooked at one central kitchen at the Vinařská dormitories. The changes are a result of complex organisational changes towards reduced costs and streamlined operations. The university is also responding to feedback from students who mention prices as the key factor in using the services of MU canteens.

Getting to know other students, spending some time together and being able to fully enjoy the benefits of dormitories – new member of the dormitory council at the Vinařská dormitory Lukáš Soják (in the picture on the right) decided to do something to make it happen. Currently, he is also involved in solving the problem with the lack of washing machines in the dormitories.

In line with the efforts of the Accommodation and Catering Services of Masaryk University, renovations and modernisation of three dormitory buildings – Bří. Žůrků, Vinařská and Mánesova – are almost finished. The works at the Kounicova dormitory, scheduled to take two years, are well underway.

Two dormitories with 789 beds will be offered to students during this summer. Starting on 1 June students can apply online for the Sladkého dormitory in Komárov or the A1 dormitory at Vinařská.

Starting this semester MU canteens have streamlined the offer of daily meals whose availability can be guaranteed – but only if ordered via the MobilKredit and WebKredit systems.
